The biosynthesis of deoxyribonucleotides is catalyzed by ribonucleotide reductase in both
mammalian and bacterial cells. The enzyme is subject to a complicated allosteric control
which influences both its overall activity and its substrate specificity. Experiments with
mammalian cells in tissue culture aim at a correlation between in vitro data and results
